Fire management and living shorelines in Estuary News
I wrote a pair of short stories for Estuary News earlier this year that I'm just now getting around to posting.
First, a brief summary of the second national Living Shorelines Technology Transfer Workshop, held in Oakland back in February and co-sponsored by Restore America’s Estuaries, the California Coastal Conservancy, and Save the Bay (see page 15 of the above-linked PDF, and page 13 for additional coverage and analysis by Joe Eaton). I also wrote a far more detailed summary report of the conference directly for Restore America's Estuaries that will be published shortly; I'll post it here, too.
Second, a "Pearl" or short news item that ran way back in February on fire-wise land management in Bay Area open spaces, particularly in the wake of last October's fires. The story is pretty brief but it's a subject I'm continuing to follow and hope to do more with in the near future.
